I would keep it as is. You never know when you may need more than a yard in a single piece.

I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't know what I was going to do with it. Therefore, I'd just leave it alone until lightning hit me for what to do with it.

Wow -- you can actually walk away from a beautiful hunk of fabric at a fantastic low price? No fun there. Besides my fabric obsession, I feel it is our duty to help the economy in whatever way we can.

I buy fabric because I like the looks of it or the feel or sometimes because it makes me smile. I have done this so often with nothing particular in mind for it. Last year I decided to help eliminate my stash. Made 13 quilts for the Childrens Home. They have about 50 kids at any given time. This year I plan to make more. If I Iive to 150 to 200 years just might be able to use most of it. In the meantime I enjoy my fabric making quilts knowing they will be appreciated.

Cant help but wonder why it would be "AGAINST POLICY" LOL you would think, especially in this economy and the prices of good fabric" that they would be happy to be selling a large amount of fabric. Sometimes I wonder about businesses...I remember when the policy was "The customer is always right"...guess I am showing my age.

In our shop it would probably depend on how busy it is. If people are in line to have fabric cut, it's not fair to those who are waiting to take a lot of extra time to have your fabric cut into pieces. But if we're not busy, we're happy to accommodate you. Perhaps this is what's going on at your shop. And eventhough the customer should always be right, we respond much better to "I hate to ask, but would you mind cutting this in 2 yard pieces?" than "Cut this in 2 yard pieces!" Just saying. I'm just wondering - if you want 12 yds. of something, why do you want it pieces???

I too agree - I never cut a piece until I am ready to use it. I store them on shelves and group them according to color/holiday.
