I've just begun using starch and what a difference it makes! I know steam is a bad idea for pressing seams, but what about when starching a full block? Help would be appreciated!

I use steam and find it actually works well with starch.

I use it also and can't believe I never did until I found this board. Wow, I could have had so many better cut and pieced quilts lol :D

I steam and starch everything. I don't prewash my fabrics, but I spray/soak them in starch, let them air dry, and steam press them.. and I steam press all my seams.

The only time I don't use steam is when I am working with a lot of bias edges. You know when your cut is not sewn and the bias edge is exposed. Steam distorts the bias edge, but really sets the seams! Yes, press, not iron. I think that is the hardest thing for me to remember!
