    i don't even like using Insul-bright because i get slivers of silver in my machine.

    My mother always kept her pins in a bar of ivory soap, never knew why, i still have hers and it will stay as it is, but never could under the soap thing

    Real Simple Magazine also suggests using soap for the same thing....Havent tried it yet tho'...

    the soap on the SOS is like a lubricant...it also keeps the steel wool from rusting should it get damp in your room!

    You can now purchase a needle sharpener for machine needles. Look for it at your LQS, Joann's or online.

    that is what started this whole converstion...these sharpeners

    are no more than a steel wool pad incased in fabric...you run the risk of getting steel fibers inside of your machine if you use them!

    They also run $10+ at the LQS....

    Thanks for sharing this very useful tip. I am going to use it. Better then steel wool. Machines are way too expensive to take a chance.
