Well, it does not seem to be a "continuous line" design, that's why you are having to go over the lines.

Instead of tracing there are powder pouncers. I see what you mean about how to sew it- what path and direction to follow.
It looks like a hand quilting design to me.

There is a continuous line.... start on the far right - inner swoop - up to the heart shape - stitch the entire heart - swing down do the feathers on the left hand side - use the bottom line on the left hand side to travel to the feathers on the right hand side.....ta da done!!! This can be done either by hand or machine...it is a neat design. Have fun!

I hate back tracking! I would just use the one scallop and the heart in a continuous line. If It needed more stitching, I would echo it and forget about the side feathers.

I would love to see more videos on how to quilt using templates. I find them confusing. I did a few yesterday. I did used the purple pen from clover with no issues with the ink coming out. I just checked...the quilt is now in the dyer. I hope I get better with using templates...so far finding it hard.

I have this template and I used it a few times. It is definitely for someone confident in machine quilting because of the backtracking that will need to be done. This was my favorite feather flower. You can see how used the stencil is. The only backtracking is on the two inside tops that are next to the center feather. If you want to chat about my stencil stash, PM me.

I agree with Tartan. Just do the heart continuous line and the scallop line under it and see if that isn't enough. With the design of your fabric you may not need all the extra side fillings. The simplicity of those two lines will enhance your fabric and not detract from its design.

I stand by my original response that this one was not designed as a continuous line stencil. If the quilter had to ask this question, it is likely she was not skilled enough to backtrack and use it as such, thus her confusion.
