I think I gave $10 for mine at Target a few years ago. When I have it and the big vac out I also clean the computer keyboard and anything else I can find where hands can't reach.

Wow! My dealer charges $65 for clean, oil and adjust. $162 seems high to me.

I think I would be looking to have it cleaned somewhere else. That really does seem quite steep. I just had my machine (Viking) serviced and I know it was about $75.

You can also find them at quilt shows(probably the bigger ones).

I love my kit as it really gets into those small spaces so well. I hope you find one.
Thanks for the info. Which one do you have?

I clean my own 7300 After I get it apart I use a small air compressor to blow it out.
I watched the tech do it the first time and decided I could do that too.

Any hints on taking the housing off the 7300? I have one also. Not afraid of the mechanics but insight would make it easier.
    Thanks

Get bids from others. You can drive a little and save a lot. Check Janome for other dealers near your location.

I also agree with Prisim 99. Vacuum out the fuzz and thread. Floss the top tesion. These machines should not be oiled, ever, unless you are directed by the service professional. Only one drop of oil was ever used on the little felt dot in the middle of the bobbin holder. Never more than 1 drop, if you do that. I would like to see an on-line class on sewing machine maintenance, like the colleges do for credit. We could all do with a little more knowlege.
