Still skipping stitches - don't know what else to do!

Make a practice sandwich WITHOUT using the basting spray. Clean the needle off or put in a new one. If you can FMQ on the practice piece without skipping, then you know the spray is the problem.
And sometimes, it is the combination of fabrics (top & backing) and batting. I had a customer quilt once that the backing had some polyester in it, and I had a TERRIBLE time with skipped stitches. I kept thinking there was something wrong with my machine, but it was the fabric/batting combo.

The alcohol did the trick! I can get a lot of stitching done and when the needle starts to skip, I stop and clean the needle. So glad it was an easy solution. Not being mechanical, searching for other answers would require intervention on my husband's part or a professional. I've learned a lot during this hiccup. Love this board and all YOUR helpful quilting advice!!!
