Default Stitch in the Ditch Mug Rug?

I didn't think this through. Now that I have my applique on and added back and batting then started stitching in the ditch the back stitch is showing on the reverse. Any suggestions?

I guess I am not smart enough to see the problem, as I think this looks pretty cute! No help from me. Sorry. I don't do applique, so that is probably why I don't understand. I hope someone else has the suggestion you need.

Just put another backing on and then bind as normal. If you want to hold back down a little invisible straight lines on the blocks or around the beautiful sunflower.

I don't understand what you are talking about. If you want to hold the layers together how about an echo stitching around your applique which would result in the shape of the sunflower showing on the back. That should be more than enough to hold the layers together.

Usually you do your applique before putting on the backing. Don't worry about it. I would stitch in the ditch and learn from your mistake. We ALL have our bloopers and hopefully we have ALL learned from them. It is part of the process of any hobby. You did a really nice job with your design and fabrics.
