P.S. Your needle should be threaded from left to right.

The needle in a model 66 sits opposite to those models - flat side to the right - and is threaded from left to right.

I would say make sure you have the upper thread correctly threaded for your machine. Then make sure you have the correct bobbin, have it wound correctly and properly put into the bobbin holder and machine. Redo all these things and see if that helps.

What model are you using- There are diffent settings for the needling and threading direction depending on the model.
If your needle is blunted or worn it alos can cause skipped dropped and no pickup of thread. If you have a manual refer to it and start fresh. We refurbish machines and may know your issue if you can provide model info and or a serial number

I wish I could help you, but awhile back I needed a book on a serger, and this company sent me one in a PDF file. Maybe a search for lost manuels or old manuels. Wish I could remember...I think it was about 10.00.

Have you figured out the skipping yet? I'm guessing there might be a burr or dried up oil somewhere in the works. Have you given it the spa treatment from Billy's tutorial? http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-45983-1.htm
Also, we have a vintage sewing machine shop on here too. Go to HOME up at the top of this page. Then when you get there, scroll down to the vintage sewing machine shop. There is a lot there. You can read the almost 2000 pages and learn a LOT - link - http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-43881-1.htm
