My DH taught for many years. He's always said, the only stupid question is the one you already know the answer to! So ask away and don't worry how simple the question is -- we've all been there -- at the beginner stage.

I absolutely agree that there is no stupid question and beginners (and advanced quilters! :) ) should feel free to ask anything and everything.
The only thing that bothers me is when someone asks a question and they're told to use the search button. I don't mind pointing the search feature out to someone but an answer to their question in conjuction with pointing that feature out would be nice. Just directing them to the search feature kind of comes across like, "Take your questions elsewhere." Many members probably haven't been involved with a lot of forums so don't understand all the ins and outs.
