    Default Straight joined binding.

I have always joined my bindings strips with a straight seam, faster and easier for me and no one can tell the difference anyway. I made my own joining finishing method that worked for me. I saw this link, maybe here? If the link was posted here Thank You. This way is an easier join then how I was doing it.

Thanks for sharing the video. This is how I do most of my bindings, straight and easy. I do love the ease of the straight method used. I then fold over and complete by hand.

I always finish my binding with a tool I had purchased some time ago at a quilt show and then I saw Jenny Doan from MSQC demonstrate it and the binding comes out perfect every time. I think sewing the binding straight across works just as well. Thank you for the video

I have that binding tool and use it as a template ruler to cut chisels. It works great for binding when a diagonal seam is wanted.

This is how I do mine and works every time, no matter what width binding. I like this way because you don't have all the seams bulked together as in a straight seam join.
Fast forward about 8 minutes and instruction to join starts about 8 minutes into video. Best part, No special tool needed either!

Thank you for sharing Onebyone this is so simple, easy and clean looking finish. I have gotten pretty good at doing diagonal but nice to have another option.

I do my binding joins on the 45* because I don’t like to have a lump in my binding.

Never noticed a lump. I finger press the seam open. All the playtime quilts I have made my grands I use single fold straight cut binding and these quilts are washed a lot and get almost daily use, even outside. The binding is still good as ever. No worn spots yet.

I normally sew on the 45 angle to join strips.

However, I used the straight join on the current project. I didn't want to cut another 2 1/2 inch strip off the fabric. I made do with just 3 strips WOF and a small left over piece for all the binding.
