I use the beads on the safety pin. Works great and not expensive.

This is a first for me. Guess I've been in "LA LA LAND". I just use sticky notes and regular straight pins. I'm about saving for fabric and just not able to justify the cost for numbered straight pins at $27.50. Not trying to take away from anyone else. Just not in my budget. maybe laters!!!!!

Yep, this is what I did also. I can get a lot more pins for the same price as the already numbered ones. Plus, I can us the pins for everyday pinning and can always add more numbers in the future if need be.

I also used a fine point sharpie on my flathead flower pins; I have a 1-30 set and an alphabetical set. However I only use these as I'm cutting my strips. Then I pull a long strip of painter's tape, write the row numbers or letters, tear off and put at the top of each strip. It sticks well to the fabric but leaves no sticky residue. Having them at the top insures I alternate my stitching direction.

I usually just pin a note on my strips too but remember seeing someone using these pins and thought it a great idea until I saw the price of them. I like saving money and the idea using a fine tip marker on flower head pins sounds like a great idea and saves me lots of money.
Now my questions how large are these flower head pins and/or do they come in various size heads? Obviously I don't have any of these either but I'm sure they are less expensive. I love gadgets but I also love saving money too so on my jaunts I'll start looking for the flower head pins. I have a label making machine where I could print out my numbers and even letters. I like everything to be labeled so I know where everything is supposed to go or what its used for. I labeled my rotary cutters........"Fabric Only" and "Paper Only" so I don't get them mixed up and neither will anyone else if they're in my sewing room.
Thanks for the swell ideas folks..........I knew I could count on you to help me out.

I have these numbered pins and I use them but I'm not thrilled with them, especially for the price.
Maybe I just got a bad set, but on mine, several pins had burrs I had to sand down, and some of the numbers are only partially printed and/or are smeared. Also the numbers are only on one side, which is annoying.
Also, these pins aren't steel - they don't stick to magnets. Since all of my pincushions are magnetic, this also annoys me.
I wouldn't buy them again. I would probably just mark flower-head pins instead, if I didn't already have these or if I had it to do over.
