    Default String Quilt Pattern Search

I found a string quilt site a long time ago, and it had a pattern for a string quilt that used blocks made of a black and white checkerboard strip (two squares wide) combined with a strip set of print fabrics.

I cannot for the life of me find that site again!

Does it ring any bells for anyone?

Bonnie Hunter does lots of string quilts, I would look through her free pattern tab at Quiltville.

I believe Tartan is right. It does sound like a Bonnie Hunter pattern and I think it is a free one. Check her site for Checkerboard Rails.

It wouldn't be hard to do. Just take your base piece and draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Make your checker board by strip piecing and cross cutting or the convention way and place the center seam of the checker board on the diagonal line. I would glue it down with washable glue stick. Then add your strips on each side. Trim and your block is done.

Thankyou so much everyone! It was indeed the Bonnie Hunter Checkerboard Rails pattern that I was trying to find. I love the boldness of the pattern, and since I have a bunch of the checkerboard sets done...it was time to get this project organized, but dang I had lost the link and photo.

For anyone wondering what this pattern is, photo below. The link to Bonnie's very inspiring list of free patterns is:

Oh, yes, that's a really pretty rail fence. I was never much of a fan of rail fence quilts until I saw that pattern.

I have a simple rail fence pattern I got off the internet years ago. Of course I don't remember where. I had to enlarge it for a 45x70" quilt.
