    Default stuck...

I am working on this quilt for someone and I would like to try to wrap it up before February. I have handquilted all the leaves and lines in the middle and have about 30 more to do. But where i am stuck is the borders, I dont really want to carry the leaf pattern over because Im kind of tired of doing it and because its a clothing material thats very thick hand quilting would be very difficult. Its about 18 inches long so i cant just leave it unquilted and put a binding on, unless this is ok? So if anyone has any suggestions id be very welcome for them=)

Check the batting for the quilting requirements. Is it the real camo fabric that is kind of stiff? If so I can see you wanted to keep the quilting simple if you are hand quilting. I would quilt simple straight lines from the white out to the quilt edge to meet the battings minimal quilting requirements.

It's all dependent on the batting you used. Check the package. It will tell you the farthest apart you can have the quilting. I'm pretty sure that whatever brand and type, 18" is going to be too much to leave unquilted.

My go to design for a busy border is piano keys. Just straight lines ...Anything else on a busy border will not be seen. I tried feathers on one recently I quilted for someone else. You could not even see them on the backing. She was happy...and its a good thing I like to feather!...Also with piano keys, you can space them as you like. Close together..or just enough to satisfy the quilting requirements of the batting...

I agree, it is hard to tell as the photo is quite small. However, Beth in AZ, you have solved my problem of what to quilt in tje busy border of one of the quilts I'm starting to FMQ. Thanks.

I agree with Beth and the straight lines.
