You aren't the only one that has done that--I did catch myself when I started to cut the 1st one though and then did a lot of ripping.

It appears as if the sewing was done down through the diagonal of the block. When cut on each side, what was left was unsewn triangles of the wrong size.

What was meant to do was draw a line down the center (rather than sew), then sew 1/4 " on each side of the line, then cut the line and you would end up with two half square triangles. In order for this to work, you need to have cut the squares large enough for you to end up with half square triangles the correct size.

Three times I had to undo the binding in a six inch spot to get a wrinkle out.

Try making them with the cut down method. They come out perfect every time with no hassles and little to no waste,

its so easy to make a "stupid" mistake at the end of a project. i've almost made that same mistake many times.

Being a quilt maker I find we really don't make mistakes. What doesn't work for one quilt will work for another. So don't feel so bad it all works out in the end. Happy Quilting

I nearly did the same thing one time. Luckily I caught the mistake BEFORE cutting them in half!

Renee, I am so laughing. I did the same thing once. But when they didn't fit the project I was doing (very very new quilter) I couldn't figure it out. I was JUST following the instructions, you know.... yeah, right. It took me a couple days of puzzlin' over it, and then finally going back through the instructions step-by-step, piece by piece to finally figure it out. I laugh at it now. I mean,.... really,... how classic!
