Make them anyway, just make more! Your border will just be a little narrower, that's all.

Formula for making half square triangles from 2 squares:
FINISHED SIZE DESIRED + 1/2" (Seam Allowance) + 3/8" for Diagonal Seam = SIZE OF SQUARES TO CUT

EX: Finished Size 2" + .5 + .375 = 2.875" or 2-7/8" squares

I always round up 1/8" from that dimension anyway, so I don't really need this formula - just add 1" to your desired finished size, then trim to the correct size. I only mention the formula, in case you don't want to waste any fabric.

After ironing all the pattern pieces to the RIGHT side of the fabric, I merrily started cutting them out and realized they were supposed to be on the WRONG side of the fabric. Thanks heavens it was a small project...

I must really be stupid as I do not know what a hst means? How big are your blocks, since they are all the same size, deduct the 1/4" seam from sewing it to the quilt top and if that size is okay, that is your border? Am I confused Dough Dough

Probably forgot to add 7/8" to the size of the square she was cutting to make the HSTs...ask me how I know!!! :oops:

Instead of either side of the center of the diagonal, she sewed corner to corner, leaving her no way to cut them apart. Clear as mud, right?
