I know it's been months since you posted that you were looking for cheddar fabric, but I am using Kona's "School Bus" for my new quilt and I love the color. It's a good match to the old cheddar color.

That's a pretty color but isn't the traditional cheddar. It's much more muted.

I was just going to recommend Kona Papaya because I think it is pretty darn close. In fact my friend just bought some over the weekend to substitute for 'cheddar'. Good luck, let us see what you make.
