Nickle quilt books are full of ideas for 5" squares...and there are also many other patterns you can get for using them.

Try googling free charm square patterns...here are a few I found:

Here is a table runner from charms:

    and another one:

For variety, make 1/2 square triangle blocks with them

I recently made a queen quilt using mult-colored 5" squares sewn in strips separated by a solid color 5" strip (black). I also used the black for border & backing. It turned out really nice. If all of your squares are Christmas, lay them out on a bed til you have a pleasing design. Also, you can cut some of them in 1/2, so you have alternating sizes.

You can make a smaller sized Dresden plates with 5" charms.
You can get 3 wedges from ONE 5" square
Sounds like those fabrics would make a really pretty scrappy dresden!

I personally like Pat Speth's three books - Nickel Quilts. The patterns are well made and directions clear if you're not experienced. Otherwise they just hve a nice range of ideas for inspiration.
