Assuming that this is a project that you are doing for yourself, not to sell commercially, take a look at the descriptions for the following books that follow a calendar theme: Kim Schafer's "Calendar Quilts," "A Year in the Life of Sunbonnet Sue," by Christine Porter and Darra Williamson and "Art to Heart - Count On It." Have fun!

Maybe will give you some ideas...

I think it is a matter of what you, or those around you, do in August. Around here, we have the county fair, with a quilt show, mule races, competitions for canned goods and fresh produce, and 4H auctions in August. Corn, melons etc. are being picked. Fishing and swimming are big. The sun is very hot. For me, growing up, it was a time for camping.

I'm slowly working on June...A Year in the Life of Sun Bonnet Sue. Sue is on a quilting cruise in June. I posted in another thread...first time doing machine applique and I am LOVING it. July...definitely patriotic and August, at least for me...always means vacation at the beach. When you vacation in NJ, DE or MD it's best to wait till August to swim in the ocean...it's finally warm enough for me. LOL

Before I retired I was an activity director and had to do a monthly calendar. While reading your thread i made a bet that Aug. would stump you. It always did me. Every other month has a holiday/celebration of some sort. Aug. is always hot and humid so I went with something to do with boating/picnic/beach. Good Luck with your calendar.
