Suggestions regarding prayer shawls
A friend of mine is involved in giving out prayer shawls and we talked about making "prayer quilts". The shawls are either knit or lightweight materials and measure about 20 X 66 inches long. Do any of you have any experience or advice regarding making them? I am not sure if a usual quilt in those dimensions would be appropriate for that and welcome any ideas regarding the filler (batting as usual or flannel or ?), fabrics, or patterns. I have so much stash and would like to contribute to their project if I could.

There's a website dedicated to quilted prayer shawls:

I had a book at one time that had patterns for knit, crochet & quilted versions

Have you tried to look up prayer shawls so that you can get an idea for a quilted one? I believe the ones I've seen have not had any batt so the recipient didn't get to warm since it's used over the clothed shoulders. Not to sound rude by making the comparison but the dimensions are similar to a long table topper or bed runner (don't know if that is the correct term but they're placed at the foot of the bed). Hope this helps you a little bit.
