Its ok if my sewing machines yellows with age, I wrinkle with age LOL, I would not give up my light over the worry of my machine truning yellow. I enjoy so much to have the windows to see out and listen to the birds sing. And as for the tread I change that so much I dont think I have to worry. I had my sewing room in the basement and now im out of jail, let the light shine lol .

I sew in front of a window and always have. At home, my windows have E-glass and at our cottage, there's no direct sunlight.

I don't really think the discoloration of the back of my machine is an issue-I never see the back! I don't leave fabric or thread out on my sewing station so not a problem.

I have my machine and a big-board ironing board both set up in front of four SE facing windows with view of oaks, deer feeder (which has be be repaired after a cow destroyed it-lol) and beautiful hills. I wouldn't give up the views for anything, but my husband and I put up blinds that can block direct sun when needed which protects the fabric and helps keep the room cooler. I mostly sew in the afternoon so the blinds can be open then.

Mine also. Doesn't make much difference since the sun doesn't shine that often here!

I too have noticed a lot of machines under the windows here on the board. A question I've had when viewing these pics is how inconvient is it to raise and lower the windows. I think I'd go nuts if I had to move the table in order to adjust the windows - what happens when it rains and you can't get to the window quick enought???????

Mine too and of course as artists know North light is the best light.

Also I have my table side on to the winder so I can open it easier, and use the window sill for my notions :-P
