I have both the red and the blue prewound bobbin sets by Superior Threads. I'm curious what all of you use each the blue and the red for. I've been using blue for English paper piecing and the red for hand bindings. Anyone using them for something different? Always interesting to hear other opinions

Are the red and blue weights?

I was very happy with the pre-wound size M bobbins for my friend's long arm. Usually got super bobs but typically I'd order a couple of the random ones when I was making a bigger order.

I love the pre-wounds I get.. Since the majority are white that I use that is what I buy in larger quantity for my Brothers 1500se. I have only bought one multi package and I have not found much use except for bindings. I love Glide from Superior Threads.

Not sure what the difference is between the sets, I never thought of them as "red" and "blue", but as what type and weight of thread they are. I bought a set of Bottom Line pre-wounds, it's *perfect* for hand applique, disappears beautifully into the fabric, even more so since I have a rainbow of colors.

I use pre wounds for my embroidery machine. The thread is thinner so more on the bobbin over what I could wind.
They also work great for piecing. The color ones work for FSL (free standing lace) projects too.

I use pre-wound SuperBobs as my standard quilting bobbin thread. I know Superior Threads has a number of different pre-wounds, but I am not familiar with the descriptions of red and blue except for thread color. I assume the OP meant thread type of weight.

Glide thread is by Fil-Tec; Superior makes a similar one called Magnifico (Fantastico is similar variagated).

She's talking about the donut that the bobbins come in. I honestly don't know if there's any significance to the color. What if they run out of blue ones and start using red ones?

I have both the red and blue donuts from Superior Threads. I mostly hand applique so these are perfect. I purchased a couple of empty "donuts". I had numerous other spools of thin thread ( Mettler, DMC etc) and wound these on cheap empty bobbins. They fit well in the donuts. Really handy to carry around.

I use bobbins as the top thread on my machine when I need a certain color for topstitching. I won't use a big spool of bright green that much so a bobbin full is enough. The bobbins are easy to store instead a lot of spools.
