My first machine was a Singer - had it for 32 years, bought the Janome DC3050 in 11/07(which are now not going to be made anymore)and just purchased the Janome 4900 Memory Craft. It is great when we can actually USE the gifts we receive. Congratulations, and can't wait to see what you make!

Not excatly sure about magnets, but I think they can erase or cause serious damage to computer machines

Just to be safe don't lay a magnet on the machine.
I have a magnet to pick up dropped pins that I keep
in a cup along with marking pens and pencils.

So glad to hear about your new machine! I know you will enjoy it. About the New Home--I heard that the New Home is now Janome. Maybe some of you know more about that.

Also wishing everyone a wonderful new year! 2010, hard to believe.
