Cool Swap cooler in sewing room

Does anyone know if having a swap cooler in a sewing room will damage/ruin my machines? We set it up last year when we moved in, @ the time I had only one machine here, it was ok but now that I have them all here, I dont want to take any chances. The air is coming out leading straight to the hallway towards the rest of the house. It is a large window unit. Thanks in advance for any help, husband is out there now reconncecting it so need to know what to do. Thanks and God bless. Have a wonderful Memorial Day.

When I lived in Arizona I used a swamp cooler in a sunroom and it did not put enough moisture into the room to dampen anything other than the water it spit out on the floor. The Arizona air is so dry it sucks the moisture out of everything so fast nothing ever stays damp. I made the mistake of taking the same swamp cooler to Tenneessee when we moved and used it once! Moisture was dripping down the walls...what a mess!
I think you will be fine, but keep an eye on things. If things get damp turn it off.

Why not use a window air conditioning unit instead? I remember having a big swamp cooler in the house when I was a child. Also big window fans and attic fans. None of them did much but blow air.

My sister had one in Rialto CA - they used it constantly in the summer months and it didn't effect her books or any other items in the area. Her sewing machine wasn't left out, so it didn't have a long exposure to the cooler.

One summer we were in Bakersfield, CA and it was 105-110 every day. We went to a museum with a swamp cooler. It felt really clammy in there, I thought. And I was sweaty and uncomfortable. I'd go with a window A/C unit if possible.

When searching for a house to buy we looked at one that had a swamp cooler in a large room at the back of the house. It smelled of mold and mildew and was the end of that sale. This was in west Texas where the humidity rarely goes above 25-30% and the temps in the summer are over 110

Oh my, it's hard to believe you are already experiencing such high temps! That will be the next thing I will be complaining about! We had such a long winter I thought warm weather would never get here -- now if it doesn't get TOO hot I will be a happy camper.

I have some quilting buddies that use their whole house swamp coolers running here until monsoon season. No one has reported any problems. I like visiting one friend's home because it is much more comfortable than my place with air conditioning and it costs her much less to cool her home, which is much larger than mine!

I don't expect you'll have any undue machine problems.

Yes, with as much cold weather as we experienced this past winter, it's hard to believe we are already hitting ninety. With our humidity, that's pretty hot! Down here in the swamps of South Louisiana, I had never heard of a swamp cooler.
