Is anyone making this quilt? I'm thinking about trying to find the book but I have so many projects started. Wondering how this would be using scraps. It looks like a beautiful quilt. I like the idea of not having to do the same thing over and over. I get bored.

A friend is making it. She has 51 blocks done and enjoys working on it. Hers is scrappy and looks stunning. She has a hubby and 3 kids and still manages to sew on it. Good luck whatever you decide.

My daughter is currently working on Sylia. This is her second quilt, her first was Dear Jane. She does all the piecing and quilting by hand - does not like sewing machines. Her Sylia is being created out of all Asian themed fabrics. She is enjoying it.

I've just started this one and I found the book on Amazon. Then I took it to Office Max and had it spiral bound for easy use. I'm using my scrap batiks from four different quilts and I had the same idea to do a block here and there for a change and surprise, a quilt will be born in no time! There is a club through our guild that sends out emails of a block a week and that gets some of us motivated to do a block. Enjoy!

I got the book at JoAnn's. The quilting books are on sale quite a bit, usually 40%. I tried the Mariner's compass as my first try and it was a disaster. 1st, it was my 1st attempt at paper piecing, should of tried something else, and 2nd, the block size is so small all the seams were on top of each other, there was no way anyone could quilt it. I don't know if I did something wrong or not. I would be interested to hear from someone who did the mariner's compass.
