The DD gave this to me about two years ago and I am just getting around to doing it. I think I would like to make it larger(it will be 45x40 with out additional work) and am thinking about either

    - adding sashing.

    or

    - get some additional batiks in the same color range and add a frame/ border around it just as it is and then add some smaller blocks then a final border. I am leaning towards this as I think that I like the layout. I am afraid that the sashing will detract from the impact of the blocks.

    What do you all think??

I think either option would be great. Black would make those colors pop. Why don't you open up a black piece of fabric and arrange the blocks as if it were sashing to give yourself an idea of how it would look.

e, I vote for your 2nd choice, one you're thinking about going with. It will echo the bright colors. Any idea what color(s) you'll go with for borders. I think the blues would be nice. Whatever you chose will be great. Happy Quilting.

I would vote no sashing...but that's just me. I love the blocks! That will make a beautiful quilt. It should be easy enough to find coordinating batiks to add a border or two. Can't wait to see it after it's done!

I go along with the black sashing. Those colors will just Pop!!! Great pattern!

Black sashing or a very dark blue or green would make the blocks pop and I like your second choice a lot :D:D:D

i think no sashing - that would detract from the 'wave' - but a thin black border and then some more color and then a wider black border. don't forget to show it when it's done.

I would not put sashing between the blocks, as that would disrupt the impact of the diagonal flow of the colors. However, a black border, then some smaller color blocks with a black binding would look striking...IMHO :)

Ok - ladies - Thanks for the input

No sashing was what I thought. Black or dark blue was also what I thinking for the border (I am not a green fan - Sorry amma). I actually found another "kit" online. . . I wonder if it is the same fabric colors . . :-)

I am really liking it and it was SO easy. I was bored with my other projects and needed some color in my life - we have had so much snow and ugly weather I needed to smile. This did it for me.

This is going to be sooooo good! It's your quilt...your the one that knows what you want it to look like...but, since you had 2 options...I'd like no sashing between these blocks. Can't wait to see how this one finishes...be sure to post for us....it's going to be beautiful!
