synthrapol - how exactly do I do this?
I have finished the kit that I received from Quilts for Kids. Based on suggestions that I received on the board I did not prewash the fabric (which went against everything I have ever done). A few suggestions were to assemble and then wash when complete with color catchers and Synthrapol. I am not sure how to do this. The directions say warm water and use 1 to 2 teaspoons. But do I use my laundry soap and softener with it? Or do run one time with only the Synthrapol and then wash after that with soap and softener? What do you guys suggest?

I have made many QFK and just used my regular laundry soap and color catchers, they came out just fine. I use warm water and then dryer sheets after they are washed. I do use my homemade laundry soap and unscented dryer sheets.

Use HOT water with Synthrapol. With subsequent washings of the quilt, use only warm water. You don't need any additional detergent or fabric softener. (Synthrapol is a detergent.) You don't need to wash a second time. I would not advise fabric softener (unless completely unscented) for any quilt given as a gift.
