I'm thinking mine will be all sports jerseys... maybe even just the back with the number. I guess I should get all of my T-shirts together first and see if "They speak to me!"
Thanks for your help... I'll keep watching this thread... I'm sure I will have questions once I get started!

I have done more of an applique method for my sons t-shirts. I wanted to be able to add more year after year so I made a quilt and just cut out the best parts of the shirt and sewed them on. When you have 5 year old shirts and 15 year old shirts you cannot get the same size squares. They are more like crazy quilts.

Then pieced the blocks together, sniped the edges, and wash! =)
it's actually on my bed now, and i'm curled up on the couch with another one of my quilts.

I made that in 2006 - and its holding up pretty well.
I've washed it several times - in a little tiny washer/dryer combo in my apartment in florida, in my mom's big pretty hd washer, in my sister's regular washer and at the laundromat.
Mine & my sister's i would wash and dry alone, my mom's and the laundromat i wash with other flannel quilts.
no problems - though in the little dryers i would clean the lint trap about halfway through.

I think it gives it a nice body, but not too hard to quilt thru. I have quilted thru the shirts too..but beware of shirts with lots of stiff paint. Try to plan your quilting around that. Here is a picture of one I am using as an idea. I love the way the blocks look like they are 'floating' on top of the quilt. Fools your eye doesn't it? lol
I hope it is not too small to see.
Let me know if you want more info on this setting.
