T-Shirt quilt advise
So I've decided to make a couple of t-shirt quilts for my sons and husband for Christmas... I've never done one before. Any advise from folks out there who have done these? Thanks!

Use a lightweight fusible backing. Figure the size of blocks and iron it on before you cut it from the t shirt. I like to border them with a nice cotton. Otherwise the stretchiness is too much to quilt with a mess of folds and wrinkles.

I like the knit fusible interfacing. You put the stretch of the fusible the opposite way of the stretch of the t-shirt and it leaves the t-shirt nice and soft. Make sure your iron isn't too hot when you fuse it though!

This is exactly what I did and it sewed together very nicely. And the blocks didn't seem that much heavier than a good quality cotton. Ann

I love the book "How to Make a Too-Cool T-shirt Quilt" by Andrea T. Funk. Directions are great, you're able to use differently sized shirts (using a 3" grid) and she doesn't use interfacing, making it quicker to put together.
