I don't have suggestions... just want to say I like your layout! ... And the sashing and cornerstones!! I'll be watching this thread as I've finally decided to do this with a bunch of old t-shirts. My sweet DH is 99.9% perfect... that .1% is his closet... so I clean it out/up every so often. I finally realized I was neatly folding and storing the same old t-shirts and he just couldn't part with them... very sentimental... all those wonderful events, you know...

so I'll be watching this and hoping for lots of great suggestions!!!

Ditto to Tartan's suggestion. The boy is going to be pleased. T-Shirt quilts are so soft.

oh -- sandwiched the quilt and ready to quilt it. Not sure what to do...This quilt is huge and my 301a isn't big enough to manage it. I could turn the machine 90 degrees like someone said. That could work. Thinking of just tying it off every fist width. Has anyone ever finished a quilt this way? How did it work out after being washed?

I've had no trouble LA quilting over screen printed logos. I won't put the rubbery iron on ones in a quilt I make because those imprints crack and peel over time. Here is a pic I did of a panto design on a Tshirt quilt I did

Default T-shirt quilt for friend's son - completed!

So happy to have this quilt completed. Turned out to be almost a king size quilt! FMQ mostly all of it but did SITD the blocks. Also tied each of the cornerstones and one block that had a 'fox' in it so it seemed logical to add some three dimensional look to that block. This is a big quilt that I ended up finishing on a Brother SQ9050 I purchased for $140. It had the FMQ foot and the walking foot and extra stitches so also added some lettering to one of the blocks. Thanks for your encouragement and ideas. - stitch124

Just thought I'd share a pic of boy and his t-shirt quilt. He's leaving for college today and the quilt is going to college too!

Thanks Lara -- He wanted a 'manly' looking quilt -- surprised he didn't ask for camo fabric...but we went with beige. I wanted the cornerstones to have a little color so we went with shirting - He liked it. He's all settled in at college now so I hope the quilt is keeping him warm in the dorm room...

I've been looking on Etsy and places like that for prices on handmade t-shirt quilts and they range from $150 - $350!!!! Didn't realize the attraction was so popular. Don't plan to make another one this big again....but it was a good learning experience.
