I want my table runners to lay flat, so I always wash and dry all my fabrics and use Warm and White because of the minimal shrinkage. So far this works for me.

Pellon fleece interfacing is my go to for table toppers. Sold with interfacing, not batting. Love everything about it for that job. Flat, gives nice body, has a little loft so your quilting shows, etc. I prefer the non fusible.

I always use Insulbright, it lies flat and protects the table surface so you can leave the runner in place and put hot dishes on it. It launders really well, doesn't pucker and doesn't require a lot of quilting to keep it stable.
