In 20+ yrs of quilting, my tastes have TOTALLY changed - but then so have the fabrics & pattern trends !! In the 80's it was calicos & florals (that's ALL there was !) then came samplers & border prints, watercolors, then civil war & reprod. prints and on to batiks & now all the great bright, modern stuff ... I love it all !! :)

I love them all, and that's the problem.

There are so many different styles and so many different techniques for special effects!! When I first started thirty yrs ago I only liked traditional but now I like them all!! :) I only wish I had more time!!

I started out all about '30's fabric and traditional, but I am slowly getting on the batik bandwagon! I've done Dear Jane, Dutch Treats and the like but am more and more attracted to art quilts and simple bold colors and patterns.

Glad to hear that others are chaning too -- regardless of which direction!!

I have an old quilt book called The McCall's Book of Quilts (circa 1975) and have made quite a few traditional quilts from it. Measures and instructions very accurate. Learning everyday about colors - that's the hard part but I guess that;s what scrappy quilts are for.

I started out with very country/primative wall hangings--lots of hands, and hearts and callicos, and "did" the craft show circut with my DS-D for awhile about 15 years ago, I guess. By now have tried a lot of basics but now lean toward the artsy stuff, and batiks, but also have a new little fascination with dresden plates, thanks to Riversong on this board! :D

absolutely. My taste in fabrics, has only changed a little, but my taste for blocks has really widened. I love it!
Because of this board and all of you wonderful board-ers ;-) , I have been able to see how beautiful a quilt can be with things I would have passed by four years ago.
Also, I agree that growing in confidence over my piecing skills has made me much more likely to use blocks that I might not have once upon a time. :-D

Your right Mousie! I have learned so much from other members here and have certainly had my creativity increased!! Seeing the different patterns and different colorways that members have used along with diffeent techniques has really gotten me fired up about trying things that I may have passed on just last year! :) I love this board!!! :)
