I had trouble with mine in the microwave. Don't set the time for too many minutes. I use 2 min and then 3 min and haven't had any smoke. I would never gift one.

I am going to put a little note in these for gifts saying I used 100% cotton on everything but to please be careful when using (especially the first time) I wouldn't buy one from someone just because I would want to know it was made from 100% cotton and I have heard some say they have used poly thread or poly-cotton material.

All of the tater/corn/sweet spud bags I made were done with fat quarters that I had purchased on ebay and didn't like.
They were all cotton as well as everything else.
