I agree.... I'm not an embroidery expert but it looks like they didn't stablize it properly. Take it back and tell them to fix it.

What a disgusting mess.... how awful for you...the shop needs to know how you feel about it, then it won't happen to someone else... good luck.

. Take a deep breath. It's not as bad as you think. Take a piece of muslin and dampen it and press it over the lettering let it dry. If it still needs more wrinkles taken out of it press again. It will be fine. Pressing is as important in sewing as stitching. I did stuff like that for over 40 years.
Believe me working on wedding gowns at a $1,000 and more pop makes one very creative.

You could take it back to them and offer them a deal, -you will tell them how to prevent this from happening again, if they will redo it for no more money. The shops mostly work on projects designed for them, and prepared for them. The embroidery is nice, they just didn't know to use a stabilizer under the fabric. After YOU (you know the work involved, they don't) take out the embroidery, use an iron on interfacing, wash away or tear away, stabilizer that YOU put in place, under the areas to be embroidered. The pieces of stabilizer can be ironed on, or just 'tacked in the corners" out of the way. Follow the directions on the stabilizer package for how to use it. Good luck. I hope this helps.

I took the top to my quilt shop to ask the ladies there what my options were. (I had brought the top to them but they only knew one person who did embroidery for people but she had recently had surgery so wasn't working) They said either rip all the lettering out and have someone else redo it, or try and quilt tightly in the banner area to even out the puckers. It makes sense that those are my only options, but does anyone possibly have any other ideas? This is a gift so I want it done right. I know an embroidery shop that I won't be doing business with again. :(
Do you have anymore of the green fabric where the embroidery is? When do you need this? I would offer to do this for you at no charge, but I am going to be out of town until Nov. Find someone who can do a good job of embroidering & then cut out your piece & treat it like an applique over the top of the bad piece. (& it IS bad!) I would NOT accept that from them, they didn't use the right (or enough) stabilizer behind it, that's why it is all puckered like that! I would demand a refund at the very least! I threw away better pieces than that! What a shame! :x

I agree with you about picking it out, it probably would show in spots but 2 wrongs don't make a right & that's what it sounds like the lqs is telling her to do??? 'pucker in another spot to even out' the bad work??? That's a really bad philosophy! See my note on the last page. I think that's what I would do?? :?:

I am surprised that it puckered. If there is enough stabiliser and stretch behind the work, it should be correct. I f you don't take it back they will not be encouraged to lift their game and others will go through this situation as well. I think you should be calm and negotiate a better deal from them, and point out why you are disappointed. If you can't do this, remove it from the back, very carefully and try to put applique lettering over it as the fabric will be marked and weakened from the original work.

i know the quilt police will probably come and arrest me for this but....how about a little strong starch and just a bit of stretching. we use the stretching thing alot as i am a bigger woman and live in a house of men that have tried to help and thrown a bunch of my clothes in the dryer and shrunk them so they usually get another go around in the washer and hung up to dry. i am sorry about the crappy job but i def would take it back and talk to the owner and let them know you are VERY displeased with the work and see if they can fix it owner may not be aware of prob if she is not the only person there.
