My stop daughter who will be 54 soon has tunnel vision and can't see things that not right in front of her, and her dad is the same way.

Loved this story. I am guilty of the same thing. A couple of years ago, my DH bought a vase of gorgeous roses for my birthday. I came in from work, full of stories of the day, opened the mail on the kitchen counter, and went to change my clothes. When I got back to the kitchen, I screamed when I saw the flowers. He said they had been there all along and I had opened the mail right next to them. I swear I had never seen them! This (and a few similar situations) should have taught me to be more vigilant about my surroundings, but I don't know that I am.

That is a cute story! Let us know her reaction when she does receive it.

Funny! I almost got "caught" when making a quilt for DH for Christmas. I was working on it only at night after he went to bed and thought I was safe one night when, lo and behold, I heard him coming downstairs (my studio is in the basement). I had to hurry to the door and turn out the lights like I was finished for the evening! Luckily, he didn't come into the room to get something (we have some extra storage cupboards down there, too). I managed to keep it a surprise until Christmas morning!

That is priceless - won't she be surprised when she opens her birthday present. Well, they say the best hiding place is in plain sight, so I guess that's true.

that's like the Christmas present that I set, in marked box, one top of the garage work bench for about 3 weeks for my DH and he never noticed it!

let us know what she says when you give her the quilt. It's amazing how we miss things when we are focused on something else.
