I invested in a pair of "rag scissors" I think they are called. A short, sturdy blade and fairly large handles. Cuts that fringe like a charm -- I did 3 tee shirts quilts lately and the price of the scissors was worth it. Of course, I hardly ever buy anything w/o that 40% Joan's coupon!

The spring loaded scissors are sooooo much easier. I have a problem with my hands & could NOT make all those cuts with regular scissors. They are worth the price I paid for them! I just made a "Tumbling Blocks" quilt & cut all those hexagons in a couple of sittings. :-D

I have found if you use one of the large "unsewers" and jab it in just above the seam line and rip up it works much better than scissors and no hand problems or scissors that get funky. :)

i snip ,every time i sew a row together i snip it and when ime finished i anly have the last row and the outside to finish

I totally agree! I bought the clippers and they are really, really sharp. That makes cutting thru the flannel a breeze, and the spring helps to keep your hand from getting so tired. Also, take all this advice about only doing one row a day and split that up. Even with the right clippers, this is tedious work.
