    it's so hard to tell the presser foot is the exact of the dogs. I have tried to sight down the left side of foot, if any maybe the width of a thread askew, don't know if I want to fiddle with it for tat much

    I hear you. The old Singers I can repair. The newer plastic ones I would be afraid to mess with them. They break easy.. Know what I mean??

    yup I sure do! I think I will try a fence 1/4" away from needle and see if that helps

    Take a piece of plain paper and run it through the machine If it is sewing crooked you'll see it on the paper. Sometimes with threads and fabrics an optical illusion is created to make you think it is sewing crooked.

    can youy buy a 1/4 in foot for that machine? if so, I would do that. When I'm checking for quarter inch, I sew on graph paper, that will let you know right away if you are a 1/4 in allowance. That would also tell you if the machine is actually sewing crooked.
