I'm with you. Very rarely do I make a specific quilt with someone in mind. For the most part, I make ones that I like. Then, when I do need to give a quilt to someone, I can pick out one from my stock. Some are for me alone, but the rest are up for grabs. This way, I don't have to make quilts on a deadline, it is a much more enjoyable way to quilt.

Sounds to me like your hubby is very proud of your work, he sees all the time and effort you put into it.Maybe he wants you to make one for him .

I have a lot of quilts, large and small, that were made just because I liked the pattern. My husband finally quilt asking, now it's - "when are you going to sell some of these?" I just enjoy the creative process, it doesn't have to be for someone or a certain event to make something beautiful because you enjoy it

Every quilt that I have made has been made for someone. That's even true for charity quilts, though I don't know the actual recipient. It would also true if I were to make a quilt for myself -- I'm someone too. So, personally, I think that question is a natural one. Given your other questions, I'm wondering if there's more to this?

Oh I totally agree!! Either quilting or sewing its a stress buster for me. Something to take the mind off whatever is going on that day !!

I hope it is not selfish to think you just quilt because you like to quilt - as one day I hope to get at that point - right now I'm still making quilts for my family - THEN will come the "just because I like to quilt" or "Just because I have all this fabric yet to use"............:)

Maybe if you make DH a quilt of his own, he won't be so negative of all the beautiful quilts you make for your self or others.

If your hubby is addicted to his computer I would say we are married to the same man. Mine is always asking who is that for. I just shrug and say it hasn't told me yet.

I don't always have a recipient in mind. I enjoy the process and when it's done, if I haven't decided on who gets it, it goes into the gift closet and waits!

I don't usually have a receiver in mind when I start a quilt, the pattern/design just calls to me
