The ten minute runner is the width of fabric minus a little for seams and about 15" wide. It is a nice size for both my tables.

Tables come in all sizes, so runners do too.

I am getting ready for two upcomng fall bazaars out west here. I made several sizes. When I looked it up prior to making my DIL one internet stated make 1/3 width of table by length plus 6 inch or so overhang each side. It would depend on if table leafs up or down. I did not make any square table toppers though as I didn't think many would use them. Tables vary so much. You could pass out your card for custom orders , not sure if I will do that as clock is ticking to holiday time already.

Make 5,7,9, and 11 foot runners. Your customers can decide if there is overhang or the runner sits as an island in the middle of their particular table. Take orders for special sizes.

I am thinking 1/3 intrudes upon your eating space, 1/4 might work better.

There is no exact size for any quilts. Mostly, size is based on the size of the quilt pattern block. I just find a pattern I like and make it.

I think this is a great idea! Pretty table runners are hard to find!70 inches seems to be the most common length. I use runners on my coffee table, buffet table and breakfast bar, but I don't use them on my dining table. Most are 50" to 70". I think it's really up to you.

Seems like the table runners I've made are about 20" x 60". They vary according to the pattern.

I think they vary in size. I personally don't like overhangs because they just don't seem to hang smoothly. A quilted runner sometimes sticks out awkwardly from the table. It will be hard to please everyone so make varies sizes and widths.

I do NOT want my table runners to hang over the end of the table. It is too much temptation for the kittens, and I love my kittens. So for me, the table runner must match the table.
