I taped a pin cap to the side of my sewing machine and keep a seam ripper there at all times. Since doing that I haven't lost it.

I finally bought a package of several scissors at the dollar store and keep all 5 of them in the pen/pencil jar on the kitchen counter, visible and always ready to be used. All the lazybones head for those before rifling through my sewing equipment drawers.

I'm with you! NO ONE uses my scissors. NO ONE. I try to joke and tell them to get the "chicken scissors" in the kitchen and I have about 20 dollar store scissors all around the house. (the ones with the RED handle ARE sharp)

I had to buy 2 more since I couldn't find the other 4 seam rippers I had. Now I have 6 of those, 12 pr scissors, and you get the idea. I do the same with fabric.
