I feel your pain - - in triplicate. I managed to cut the binding on three corners of one quilt. I was not happy. It took me awhile to even figure out what I had done and how it had happened because it was the first quilt that I had "trimmed" the backing/batting after putting the binding on. I generally trim before adding the binding. The only way to fix it was to remove the binding. I took the binding off well away from each side of the three corners, spliced a new binding into each of the three locations and restitched it down. I hopefully learned my lesson.

At least the cut wasn't in the middle of the quilt!
I once made a 'Dick and Jane" fabric vest for my sister, a teacher, & after it was finished, I pressed it & burned a hole the size of an apple - no repair for that one.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Maybe an "apple" applique for the teacher? I think a good cry would be the only thing that would help.

Good luck with the repair job!

This use to be my biggest fear. So I started trimming BEFORE sewing binding on! Now I have other fears! lol Imagine that. Can't say that I saved myself any ulcers.
