Default Thinking Outside the Block Quilt

I am thinking about making this quilt for my adult son. I like the pattern at 6 blocks across and 6 blocks down. However, I would want the quilt to be larger than 60" x 60". Wondering if any of you have made this quilt using 3" finished strips?

For those Members who do not know this quilt, it is made with 1/2 Log Cabin blocks set in such a way that they appear to be floating on top of each other.

The example that I have looked at (and like) appears to have 2" finished strips. Do you believe that 3" finished strips would be too wide?

    Thank you for your help.

here's a link to reference the quilt https://www.quilterswarehouse.com/th...quilt-pattern/
the pattern comes in sizes from runner to king, so making yours larger than 60x60 is definitely doable. i have never made this quilt, but it is on my list

I've made this quilt and love the pattern. You could add more blocks but that may come out larger than you wanted or add more to your borders. I've done that in the past to use up all the scraps.

I haven't made the quilt but have the fabric to do so. I think if you make your strips too large, you may lose the illusion. JMO

I made this pattern using 2" strips with 10 - 8" squares across and 10 down with a small border to make a 84"x84" and it came out rather nice.

I made this quilt in queen size with matching pillow shams. The pattern includes several sizes.

I do not think that adjusting the size of the strips will take away from the pattern. The layout and fabric choice really make the quilt.

    Isn't there always a but....

When I made the quilt for my niece, I used 6 colours, with 2 1/2 inch strips (2 inch finished). The pattern results in a square quilt, but she wanted it rectangular. I just made more blocks and arranged them as if the pattern was continuing on outwards.

Thank you, QuiltnNan! I purchased the pattern. That's the best way to go.
