For those of us who are not exactly perfect (1/4" seam)

My seam allowances are pretty much consistant. I pin a lot. I pin all the seams. If need be I stretch a bit, or use the stiletto to push fabric together as the feed dogs gather up the fabric. If the seams don't match enough that it catches my eye, I rip out and re sew. I'm pretty slow, but I want it to come out right for me.

that is exactly what I do   A little bit is easier to ease in then to drag out the seam ripper and fix it! LOL And nobody will ever see it once it is quilted.

Thanks to everyone for the advice! I've put on quite a few strips with less fussing.

I find that the 1/4 inch foot works wonders. If something doesn't match I stretch and if that doesn't work I rip. If things don't match, it bothers me and I guess that makes me a perfectonist, but if stretching doesn't make it fit, I figure it's too far off.

If there isn't much difference putting the longer side down and shorter side up the feeddogs sometimes take up the slack enough. Is this clear as mud? LOL! Also the 1/4" foot with the longer toe on one side makes perfect 1/4" seams if you keep the fabric against the toe. For scant 1/4" I move the needle one notch higher.
