    It won't hurt to ask.

Please post the answer if you call. I have this model, too.

Not in my manual for it either. It would be GREAT if I could change the annoying default. Please let us know! Thank you.

Here is how I changed the default needle position on my Brother.

The machine can be set so that the straight stitch center needle position is automatically selected when it is turned on.

    1. Turn off the sewing machine.

    2. Hold down the “+” side of (stitch selection key) on the left and turn on the sewing machine.
After turning on the sewing machine, release the “+” side of plusminus.jpg (stitch selection key).

The initial needle position changes to the center needle position.

NOTE: the specified initial needle position is maintained even after the machine is turned off.

NOTE: Perform the same operation to change the initial needle position to the left needle position.

Thanks, I like learning new things about my machine (without having to do all that reading LOL). Now I can head directly to that section in the manual.

My Brother 2500 will sew diagonally. Is this what you are calling sideways?

Do you have a link or source to verify this information? I'm interested in who is making which machines. Things change too fast.
