I love all of these quilts using men's shirts. Thanks for sharing!

I have to ask, why do the shirts have to be 100% cotton to use for these quilts? I've got no clue what my hubby has in the closet, but I suspect that he doesn't own any 100% cotton shirts at all.

They don't. You can use what you have. Quick, quick, before people start posting about only all cotton.

Actually cotton is easier to work with--there is little question in my mind about that, but you can certainly make a quilt out of a 50/50 mix--but it doesn't have the give that all cotton does.

Funny. They are all thrown in bins--I have to dig.

Well guess the sale is today. Please be sure to show us what you ended up with. The prices at my usual thrift stores have gone up or I am just missing the sales.

I also would say depending on the shirt watchout for persperation stains. that may cut down on how much you get from a shirt. XXL and higher is the way to go though.

Thanks. I do prefer working with 100% cotton as well, but I wasn't sure if there was a special reason why everyone stressed to be sure the shirts were 100% cotton rather than a cotton blend. I may have to make a trip to the Goodwill store soon to check this out.

I love using recycled shirts, I think I used about 14 different shirts in this double quilt and 7 shirts in this lap sized quilt

Just started to make squares with denim and 2 inch shirt strips

I went overboard and bought dozens and dozens (and dozens). Then I couldn't figure out what to do with them, so I finally cut them all into charm squares. A short sleeved men's shirt will yield at least 30. For my quilts, I used at least 20 different, but I like scrappy. Here's a few that I did. Still have lots of charms left over!

I don't think it matters a bit. I wear a lot of 50/50 oxford cloth shirts to work and they will make a beautiful quilt one day when I retire.....just don't tell anybody that I bought a couple of them for variety in the quilt, not because I wanted to wear them!!!!!

OK. I guess I'll have to go take pictures in a little bit. I decided to wash all the blacks I got--the blues are still in a bag. Mostly I got those two colors. I think I got about 25 shirts, 2 pairs of all cotton pajama type pants and a set of all cotton pajamas with beautiful fabric.

Plus i picked up a coat for a kid that I know (I mean, really, for 33cents?)...if it doesn't fit it can go back in our "give away pile for other kids.
