Thoughts on a drop in sewing machine with a gap behind the machine

I don't know where your bobbin is on your machine, but the clear plastic cover for mine slides forward. Although my machine does fit down into my desk I do have to keep a gap at the back so that I can move the machine back a tad to slide the cover off the bobbin area. The gap has never been a problem so far.

I have the kangaroo Tasmanian table with an insert to fit my diamond. Great to knows I can use styrofoam to fill up the gap if I use one of my other machines. Thanks Jo C for that cleaver hint!!!

My machine sits down "in the hole" and there is a gap between my machine and the sewing cabinet in the back.
i utilize that gap when I FMQ and can poke some of the quilt down in there and it avoids the drag from the weight of the quilt. I find it really helpful!

I just bought a used Koala cabinet and my Lily fit inside with the insert that came with it but not the Sapphire. So I ordered an insert to fit the sapphire and the cabinet and got it the other day. It's a real plus when it comes to these cabinets and it wasn't $100. About $70 I think. Now I can use either machine in the cabinet.
