I have a Viking and have found that almost any of the major thread brands work. I do not like the inspira needle. Never had any problems with thread brands until those needles, so back to schmetz I went. The finer the thread the smaller the needle. Specialty threads require specialty needles, quilting, embroidery, metallica, etc.
I've been sewing garments for over 40 years and quilting since 1988, I've learned many things about sewing and quilting.

I also sew with a Baby Lock. I use almost any thread with no problem. I do use Superior Titanium Topstitch needles - 80/12 for piecing and 90/14 for quilting. I mainly use Connecting Threads cotton thread, but have also used Superior Masterpiece, and many other kinds.
