For piecing-grey or taupe Aurifil 50wt or Masterpiece by Superior Threads. Whenever I have matching colors, I use it. For hand appliqué, I use YLI silk neutrals or Masterpiece to match the fabric. Connecting Threads sell a set of YLI and a bobbin donut of 36 Masterpiece colors. For quilting, I use whatever color Aurifil or King Tut or Perfect Quilter by Superior that I think will give the look I want. I still have a stash of DMC, Mettler, and C&C hand quilting thread, but new purchases will be Treasures by Superior.

I'm glad I started this thread because it's given me some ideas instead of using brown all the time for piecing. Again don't know why I do but I'm gonna pick up some greys and more creams. thanks guys

Some years ago, in a class, we were told that sage green will blend with almost any color, easily--so I keep it on hand for all work with colored fabrics, when sewing on black, I prefer to use dark brown thread, just in case a seam or two need resewing--it is much easier to see the seam, and it does not show after the block is pressed. And, I am a dedicated Aurefil user. piecefully, the old one
