There has been many questions on here about thread. I guess we all have certain things we do in quilting and when asked why, our answer is because that's how we were taught.
I piece all my quilts with white thread. I have taught people to quilt and always with white. I assumed everyone does because white is the first color to sell out in sales on thread. So I was curious, what color do you use? white? or do you use a coordinating color to piece?

Usually I use greys, but once in awhile I coordinate if the colors are close.

I only use white when sewing on white fabric. I use alot of cream, or gray. It used to be spool of white thread were very inexpensive and many times there would be bins of big spools 6 for $1.00 with mostly white maybe a few black spools, so Mom would tell me to use white because it was cheaper.

i seldom use white- it shows up too much- for piecing i generally use a neutral- light or medium gray or natural/cream
for quilting i use colors- to go with the quilt- or vareagated threads i think in years of quilting i've used thread once or twice- (on white quilts of course) but i don't make alot of white quilts i love color- so i use color.

I also use some shades of green, very neutral and blends well. I only use white or black as needed.

I only piece with white thread if the quilt is predominantly white.. I never quilt with white. There are soooo many other interesting choices to try!!
