I started out on Coats Cotton machine quilting thread, is that the right thread to use or can I use just any thread that's cotton?

Some quilters and machines are picky about which threads to use. My machine and I are not picky so we use the thread that is the color I need. I use lots of Coats and Clark all purpose thread. I also use Connecting Threads brand.

When the Search feature starts working again you can do a search on thread and you will have hours of reading pleasure. Lots of choices:)

Me and my machine really like Connecting Thread thread. You get 1200 yds for $2.49 so it is a deal. I have bought this thread in variety of colors to use for top stitching. It is really cheaper that Coats and Clark. One top took me almost 2 spools of C&C thread even on sale that is expensive!

I just won a spool of the Connecting Threads thread at my guild this month and can't wait to try it...if it goes well, I will be ordering it in many more colors.
I use a lot of different threads...my machine isn't too fussy...just be sure to clean and oil your machine regularly, and change your needle frequently.

Today only the Quilter's Daily Special is $3.60 for a 300 yard spools of Perfect Quilter, the heaviest quilting thread from Superior Threads. I just bought a ton of Aurifil, but figured I'd try Perfect Quilter too, for that price.

I really like Aurifil 50wt for piecing. Much less lint than other threads I have used!
