Thread verses fabric

If you include embroidery thread, I have a substantial amount, but it in no way compares to my fabric stash.
My quilting thread now all fits in one box, although I can't get the cover down. I'm using it all up - mostly Coats and Clark and will be replacing it with Aurofil and Superior threads. While I didn't have much of a linting problem with my brother, C&C lints terribly in my Bernina. However, I paid hundreds of dollars for the thread I have and dang it, I'm gonna use it up first!

I have 5 thread boxes of thread, probably every color known to man, 4 of regular sewing thread and 1 of hand quilting thread. My mom gave me all her thread when her eyes got too bad to see to sew, plus I had alot already.
My fabric stash is 8 large plastic bins full. Need to get organized more so I can get to it all. I've been enjoying all the pictures of fabric storage ideas. :thumbup:

Actually, probably runs close. I purchased a bin full of assorted threads from a lady on craigslist about 6 months or so ago. I have quite a bit of sewing and some quilting thread. I also have about 30 small spools of pure silk applique' thread, besides what I already had. I only paid $10 for the bin.

Too much thread for sure. I always try to match my thread to my quilt. Between the piecing thread, quilting, embroidery, large spools etc. I have way too much. I shouldn't run out of thread for the rest of my lifetime and then some :-)

I used to sew clothing before I started quilting and you always matched your thread to the fabric. But I've come to realize you don't need to do that in quilting. I have lots of colors but for the last few years I've only been buying shades of cream to brown and light gray to dark gray. Very rarely do I need the thread to match. Also makes ripping out alot easier to see.
